International 1920/Action Match
International Action match, also known as Action Match, is a dynamic event that is probably the most demanding of all the handgun disciplines.
The match is a combination of 4 specific events, made up of 48 rounds each, making the total match score 1,920 points. Across these 4 events, competitors shoot at various distances with various time limitations. Competitors draw from a holster in all events.
In the “Practical” Event, competitors shoot at targets 2 targets at 10 yards, 15 yards, 25 yards and 50 yards under various time constraints.
In the “Barricade” Event, the competitors shoot from around either side of a barricade at 2 targets at 10 yards, 15 yards, 25 yards and 35 yards in increasing time constraints
The “Moving Target” is unique is as far as the competitor shoots at target that moves across the range, traversing 60 feet in 6 seconds. The competitor shoots at the target at 10 yards, 15 yards, 20 yards and 25 yards in increasing time constraints.
The “Falling Plate” Event sees the competitor engage 6 x 8” diameter steel plates at 10 yards in six seconds, 15 yards in 7 seconds, 20 yards in 8 seconds and 25 yards in 9 seconds.
The pinnacle competition for this discipline is held in the United States each May, at Columbia, Missouri. The Bianchi Cup, named after its founder, ex LA police officer John Bianchi, sees the cream of the world’s handgun competitors vying for major prize money.
